Hollow Knight: Silksong Update for September 2025 Makes a Few Secret Changes
Hollow Knight: Silksong released an update in late September 2025, and it made some changes that players may not have noticed. After years of waiting, Hollow Knight: Silksong is finally available for players to experience Hornet’s newest adventure. And since the game’s release, two updates have been rolled out.
The first patch for Hollow Knight: Silksong was out on September 12, with fixes and balance changes, such as reducing the difficulty of battles against Moorwing and Silent Splinter. The second update for Hollow Knight: Silksong arrived on September 21 and brought a significant list of bug fixes, such as a rare case in which Shrine Guardian Seth would go out of bounds during battle. Team Cherry continues to adjust Silksong to ensure that players have an even better time. However, players may have missed some of these changes.
Hollow Knight: Silksong Makes Changes to How Tools, Crests, and Attacks Work
YouTuber Visic posted a video listing adjustments made by the second Hollow Knight: Silksong update that were not mentioned in the patch notes. Specifically, these changed how tools, crests, and attacks work. Now, players who use charged attacks will generate silk, making the strategy against flying enemies even more viable. With the adjustment, using the Hunter’s Crest will give two silks, while the others will generate one silk. The Witch Crest has not changed, but the bad news goes to the Architect Crest, whose damage has been nerfed by 29%, according to the video.
Another key change not mentioned in the patch notes is that Flintslate now works better. After the update, the Hollow Knight: Silksong tool will hit 50% harder if players are using Hunter, Reaper, and Beast Crests. On the other hand, it is a small nerf for Witch and Wanderer Crests, and a big nerf for Architect. Players who use the Clawline attack and have the Hunter focus buff will notice that it will deal less damage. The Volt Filament, another tool available in the game, has received a big buff and will now also increase the skill damage itself. Finally, Cogwork Wheel is slightly weaker, as Silksong players can now only carry 10 of them instead of 16.
On Reddit, Silksong players celebrated the change in silk generation. One comment expressed hope that Hunter’s Crest will continue to be adjusted to become “as good as or better than regular attacks.” Additionally, the nerf to Architect Crest left some opinions divided. With the successful release of Hollow Knight: Silksong, players hope that Team Cherry will continue working to keep the game’s momentum, ensuring a challenging and engaging experience.
