Despite being a League One outfit, Wrexham’s ever-growing popularity in North America – courtesy of Hollywood co-owners McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds – means that they have emulated Premier League sides by gracing a giant immersive screen in California.

Their meeting with Barnsley at SToK Racecourse was picked for the Cosm LA treatment, with “special guests” promised ahead of a historic occasion. McElhenney joined local fans in attendance, along with his wife Olson and other members of the ‘It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia’ cast.

Acting legend Danny DeVito was spotted handing out high-fives following a battling 1-0 victory for Wrexham, with Ollie Rathbone grabbing a 92nd-minute winner. Olson enjoyed her evening out with some familiar faces, accompany an image of her and McElhenney stood in front of the humongous screen in Los Angeles with a “this place is wild” message.
